There are numerous benefits to Reflexology for babies, and the treatments can be tailored to meet your child's individual needs.
Baby reflexology can assist with teething, sleeping and colic reflux. It can also help to boost the immune system, support digestion and relieve constipation. Naturally, as a parent, you will want to help and comfort them, and using Light Touch Reflexology can help to ease these little discomforts, whilst encouraging calmness.
Baby Reflexology is suitable of babies from 4 weeks to 8 months, and is performed by placing your fingertips gently on their feet. The treatment will be carried out by Alice but she will be showing techniques that you can take home with you, so you can continue and help your little one!
Just like adults, everyone responds to Reflexology differently. Some may have a little snooze, others may sneeze a little, giggle, or even wee a bit more than usual. It is so gentle that your child will enjoy the subtle touch and security.
You will receive handouts to assist you and Alice is always here if you have any questions.
Please note we are on the second floor of the building and buggies/pushchairs must carried or be left on the ground floor. (We cannot be held responsible for loss or damage if not brought up to TruthPie clinic)
Hand Reflexology is equally as effective as foot reflexology, however in the UK, it is not as well known.
There are reflex points on the hands that correspond to every organ, gland and part of the body and by using the unique thumb and finger techniques on these reflexes, the body responds by relaxing, rebalancing and improving blood circulation.
The hands are not as sensitive as the feet and the reflex points are much deeper, however a hand reflexology treatment can be extremely beneficial and is particularly useful when a foot is injured or where a client is unabale to elevate their leg.
Hand reflexology can be used at the start or end of a traditional foot reflexology treatment, or as a stand-alone treatment in its own right. It may also be used for self-help and is often demonstrated by the practitioner to enable the client to use reflexology techniques in-between appointments.
Reflexology is not a massage, nor a substitute for medical treatment - it helps improve circulation and promote relaxation, enabling your body to heal itself. Reflexology treats the whole person, not just the symptoms. As well as promoting relaxation, relieving stress & tension, and improving your sleep, Reflexology also stimulates the nervous system, which can help relieve headaches & migraines, back problems and aches & pains. Working with the feet and hands, Reflexology is able to help maintain a healthy digestive system, alleviating problems such as constipation, IBS, colitis, gall stones and ulcers. You respiratory system can also be aided by Reflexology - symptoms caused by asthma, hay fever, bronchitis and sinusitis can all be targeted.
During a reflexology appointment, appropriate pressure is applied to specific points or areas on the feet (or sometimes hands/ears). These areas and reflex points correspond to different body organs and systems, and that pressing them can have a beneficial effect on the organs and your general health.
If you choose a Hand Reflexology appointment, not only is this great for those who don't like their feet being touched but it is also a valuable healing treatment for people suffering with arthritis, multiple sclerosis, insomnia, frozen shoulder, stress and anxiety related disorders, repetitive strain injury, carpal tunnel syndrome. Techniques can even be taught during your session to be taken away with you.
Regular treatment may help to boost the immune system, aid relaxation and relieve stress and anxiety, which often promotes sounder sleep.
